San Mateo, CA, January 16th, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) Digital Chocolate, Inc., a leading publisher of high-quality, original software for mobile phones, won a total of nine 2006 IGN.com Game of the Year awards, including the top two categories, 'Best Developer' and 'Wireless Game of the Year.'
Digital Chocolate bested the world's top publishers with the most wins and nominations across the largest number of categories. Its nine wins were followed by Glu Mobile with three, Gameloft and EA Mobile with two each and I-Play with one.
In total, Digital Chocolate had seven different products nominated 17 times across 13 of 17 possible categories. Its winners were:
Additionally, several other games, including Spelltris and Moto Racing Fever, earned runner-up status for Digital Chocolate in five categories.
Digital Chocolate's biggest winner was Tornado Mania!, which earned a total of six nominations and won three awards, including the coveted 'Wireless Game of the Year.' Earlier last month, Tornado Mania! made IGN.com history as the first mobile game to earn a perfect score from the IGN.com Wireless review team. Tornado Mania! is only the third game in IGN.com history to score a perfect 10 on any video gaming platform. The last time IGN.com gave a rare, perfect 10 score was more than seven years ago, in 1999.
