According to the Yankee Group, the gaming segment is enjoying the strongest growth of wireless entertainment applications, with mobile users downloading approximately 49 million games in 2004. Digital Chocolate, which launched its first mobile applications in September 2004 on Verizon Wireless, offers mobile users high-quality, easy-to-play games like Baseball Heroesâ„¢ of the MLBPAA, DChocâ„¢ Bubble Duckyâ„¢ and Mobile Leagueâ„¢ Solitaire 4Pack, as well as non-traditional applications like DChoc Babysitterâ„¢, a mobile application with music and images that amuses young children.

The three million downloads achievement was accomplished roughly a year after the company’s founding is a direct result of the appeal of Digital Chocolate products to consumers worldwide. Numerous Digital Chocolate games, including Rollercoaster Rush, Racing Fever 2, and Street Soccer, are among the world’s most popular. This milestone was also achieved because of the company’s extensive distribution network. Digital Chocolate has relationships with more than 100 carriers and partners including Cingular, T-Mobile, Orange, Verizon, and Vodafone. As a result, Digital Chocolate products are now available in over 50 countries around the world.

‘In a relatively short time, we have reached millions of mobile phone users with our unique brand of games and applications, and have established a highly-regarded and far-reaching distribution channel,’ said Trip Hawkins, Digital Chocolate’s CEO and founder, who has a notable history in computer and gaming software, having founded and built the seminal games company Electronic Arts. ‘We fully expect to extend our reach in the coming months, and will be making additional U.S. carrier announcements as well as additional product announcements, demonstrating our continued position at the forefront of this exploding market.’
